Hipster Chic Girl's Room - ORC Week 4

Is it me or has October been one of the busiest and craziest months this year to date? I know I say this every time October rolls around but this year seems to even top last year! Why so busy and crazy? To start, we’re now into the 4th week of my guest participation of the One Room Challenge (ORC), hosted by Calling It Home. Catch up on previous posts here:

October birthday babies are also another reason why this month has been so crazy. But after this past weekend, a huge weight has been lifted from my mind. You see, I promised Lauren I was going to throw a birthday party at our house this year for her close friends and classmates. To keep the party size manageable, this was a girls only party which consisted of her closest friends and all the girls in her class. Well, who knew the pressure of throwing a birthday party for a bunch of 6 and 7 year olds was so great! Well, I’m happy to report that the birthday girl loved her party and her friends seem to all enjoy themselves.

Here’s a photo of our birthday girl… the diva girl who inspired my Hipster Chic Girl’s Room Makeover! Remember her bedroom makeover was one of my presents for her? I should’ve just gotten her a giftcard and called it a day. 😉 Ha! I kid. I kid…

Lauren’s birthday party was mainly held outside since it was so gorgeous out that day! At 76 degrees with full sun, it even felt hot outdoors that day!

Okay, now back to the progress of Lauren’s Hipster Chic Bedroom makeover. Just to recap… last week, I shared this design board with items I plan to incorporate into Lauren’s bedroom.

Well, the new bed arrived the other week and Lauren loves it! The bed was super easy to put together…apparently only 20 minutes to put everything together. I probably could’ve done it myself but since my hubby was around, I put him to work. It’s the least he could do since I painted the entire room by myself!

White Twin Bed

This week, I put the triangle decals on one of the walls in the room. Here’s a little preview.

Here are some SNEAK PEEKS of some new items I purchased for Lauren’s bedroom.

1) Gray and White Kitty Bedsheets

This bedsheet set brings a fun, girly detail to the room.

2) 4 x 5 Area Rug

I LOVE this rug. While it’s more of a knitted cotton rug, the style is perfect for Lauren’s Hipster Chic themed bedroom!

3) White-washed Picture Frame

This picture frame is handcrafted from India. I love all the intricate carvings in this frame.

4) Geometric Picture Frame in Sea Green Color

Lauren wanted me to incorporate some sea green into the room. It’s one of her favorite colors. Don’t you love the geometric design around the frame?

That’s all the sneak peeks so far this week! Here’s what I still have left to do:

TO DO LIST
Order Twin Bed
Repair Wall Imperfections
Purchase Area Rug
Paint Walls
Change Electrical Outlets and Covers
Install curtain rods and purchase Curtains
Hang Wall Shelving and Picture Ledges
Purchase Bedding
Purchase Decorative Pillows
Purchase Display shelf for small toys
Buy or Create DIY Wall Hang

Hopefully, I find curtains this week! Before I put up wall decor, I really need the curtains up so I can determine how much space I have to hang decor near the window. The window wall is the first wall you see when you walk into Lauren’s bedroom. I definitely want to put up some wall accents there! Wish me luck finding the perfect window panels. You know how picky I can be! 🙂

P.S. This fall’s ORC edition has been extended by 1 additional week. The big reveal will now take place on Week 7.
