There’s finally some tangible progress being made in my corner office project, as part of my guest participation in the One Room Challenge (ORC), hosted by Calling It Home. You can catch up on previous posts here:
Week 1 (Before Photos and Plan // Week 2 (Writing Desk Options)
Last week, I mentioned how I narrowed my office desk choices down to 5 options. So… the desk I ordered was the Home Styles Newport White Desk. Many of you have commented on Instagram that this was your favorite. I’m glad to know because it certainly was mine! The desk arrived yesterday so I’ll have some assembly to do later this week. Insert happy dance. Uh, not really.
Now that my desk arrived, I’m feeling even more pressure to finalize my armchair selection. This task has proven to be far more difficult than choosing the perfect writing desk for my little office corner in living room!
I’ve spent hours sourcing for small-scale upholstered armchairs online. Today, I’m sharing my favorite Multipurpose Armchair Finds for Corner Office: (Today’s post contains affiliate links.)
Option 1 – Penelope Armchair by Foundry Select (Details here)
Option 2 – Mid Century Modern Velvet Chair by EGGREE (Details here)
Option 3 – Ellis Dining Armchair by West Elm (Details here)
Option 4 – Markus Onyx Chair by Pier 1 (Details here)
You can PIN today’s post for future reference:
I love all of these options above but I’m still not 100% positive on which armchair to choose. I have to say Option #1 is the top contender. What’s the problem then? Well, the chair only comes in a set of two. Not sure if I want to pay for 2 when I really just need 1 chair. 🙁 The price is really reasonable for 2 chairs though! Decisions … decisions ….
What are your thoughts on these 4 choices? By they way, I’m still holding out hope that I’ll spot “the one” during my “In-Store” shopping trips over the next week! I REALLY would prefer to see “the chair” in person. A “toosh” test would be preferred. After all, who wants to sit on an uncomfortable “office” chair for hours?!
Besides searching for armchairs, I’ve been busy repainting that huge bookcase of ours. Here’s how it looks all emptied out:
The bookcase after the 1st coat of white chalk paint. No point of return now!
Two coats of paint later… Ah, much better! 🙂
I plan to paint this shelf a 3rd coat today. I’ll be sharing all the details in a future post so stay tuned! I’m definitely taking my time with this project, allowing each layer of paint to dry overnight. I can’t wait till this project is all done! I knew painting this 20 cubby bookcase will be the most time-consuming part of this makeover. It’ll be all worth it though. 🙂
Thanks for checking in on this week’s progress! Don’t forget to follow along my Instagram and Facebook accounts for additonal content. Also, you can check out Week 3’s posts from the 20 designers here and the guest participants here. Enjoy!

Hi, Tee! Your bookcase looks FANTASTIC painted! Great job! I really like the Penelope chair, too.
Tee, so many great choices. I think my favorite is #2! Your shelves look great painted white. Excited to see the finished space!
Love the painted shelves. I need something like that for my ORC office redo. I am liking the pattern in the Pier One chair. But hard to overloook a BOGO deal. Good luck with your choice and week 4!
Those cubbies are perfect! I’m inspired to get to moving on my office refresh!
Option 2 is my fave and Option 4 is a close 2nd!!
All the chairs are nice. For myself, I found that a swivel & wheeled chair necessary for my desk. Not only was the tush test necessary, but I had to be careful about the arm height so it didn’t bang into the desk when I swiveled around. Oh, and my chair had to have the option to lean back a bit as well.
Thanks for your comment and insight, Kathy! Great point about the arm height. Now that I have my desk all assembled, I may decide against a chair with “arms.” It’s kind of nice to be able to slide a chair directly into the desk when not in use. Thanks again for your comment!
This is along the lines of what I purchased. Pretty. Practical. Functional. Comfortable.

Looks great, Kathy! I love office chairs like this and would totally get something like this in the future. If this “corner office” wasn’t in my living room, I would go for a chair like this with wheels. Since in living room, I wanted a chair that could double as an armchair or accent chair alongside my sofa (when not being used as an office chair with my desk). Thanks for sharing the link, Kathy! I bet it’s super comfy 🙂
I love how your bookshelf turned out! Chair #2 is my fave. It’s so hard buying furniture online. Good luck!
The chairs are all really different, but I like them all! I know exactly what you mean though, would be really great to sit it in first before you get it home. I’m having the same problem finding a chair for my bedroom makeover. One has already been sent back and now two others are on the way!
I love all of the chairs. I think 2 is my fav. Great job on the white shelves. White always takes so long!
Thanks so so much!
All of the chairs look great! I know you said option #1, but my fave is option #4 🙂 I’m sure any of them will look great in this space though 🙂 Excited to see what you choose!
Thanks, Lindi! I really like #4 as well.
Nice picks on the chairs and the bookcase is so fresh now! Love it! This space is really looking great.
Thanks, Jen!
The bookcase is going to be amazing! My favorite chair is option # 2 – and love your desk choice!
Thanks, Jaclyn! I really like #2 as well 🙂
Love that bookcase!! The size of the cubbies is perfect. And all the pain of painting it will be worth it so keep hanging in there. Love those chairs, too. You’re going to be all snazzy! 🙂 ~~ Susie from The Chelsea Project
Thanks, Susie! Glad I’m almost done with the shelf!
