Beauteeful Living was recently featured in This Old House magazine! Remember my corner office makeover that I completed for last fall’s edition of the One Room Challenge? One of the writers for this Old House magazine reached out to me to feature my makeover in their July/August 2019 issue! I would’ve shared this exciting news sooner but I was on my summer blogging break. #BloggersNeedaBreakToo 😀
This little corner in my living room used to be one of the main sore spots in my home. With some chalk paint, pretty accessories, and chic furniture, the sore spot transformed into a modern glam space that I still love. If you missed the makeover reveal, you can visit this LINK.
Here’s the This Old House cover where my home office was published! (July/August 2019 Issue )
Turning to page 21, you’ll find my full page feature under their “Budget Redo” section.
Painting this behemoth of a bookcase (20 cubbies) took patience and several coats of paint but it was all worth it. The best part was being able to AVOID sanding the large bookshelf! In case you missed my step-by-step instructions, you can visit this post HERE.
Besides saving money by refinishing my bookshelf, I kept this makeover on budget by selecting items that were cost effective. In fact, the most expensive items in this space were the writing desk and side chair which totaled $294. A year later, both the desk and chair and holding up extremely well. Money well spent! By the way, the chair was purchased at my local HomeGoods store. Similar chair found available online HERE.

I’m so honored for this “budget redo” feature in This Old House Magazine. We all know how limiting it can be to update a space with a small budget. I hope my “Corner Office” makeover serves as inspiration of how we can make a big visual impact without having to break the bank.
Here’s the “BEFORE.”
Here’s the “AFTER.” 🙂
Thanks for reading today’s post! I hope you enjoy the rest of your week! Ahhh…I’m loving these fall days 🙂

Hi Tee! I recently came across your blog and have been loving these makeovers and what you’ve done with this office nook! Congratulations on being featured in this magazine. Very well deserved! Would you mind sharing where you purchased the white storage boxes on the bottom section of your bookcase? Thanks in advance!
Hi Mirna, thanks so much for your kind words! I’m glad you’re enjoying the makeovers shared on this blog. The white storage boxes were from Ikea. I’m pretty sure they still carry them. Happy New Year!
I am so excited for you to be featured in a national magazine. How awesome is that? It is a wonderful space and the recognition is well deserved.
I love this idea. We recently downsized so space is at a a premium, but this would work perfectly. My desk is the dark wood and I love it, but I really love the clean, white look of this.
Your corner office looks great! How exciting to be featured in This Old House!
I am so thrilled with the feature. What a great milestone to remember. You are very talented.
Congratulations! This is such a huge honor! I love the way your office space turned out.
Wpw, what an achievement! How cool that you were featured in the This Old House magazine.
I don’t have an office because I am unable to sit at a desk for more than 10 – 15 minutes. So I just keep my laptop and tote it where I want to park it for the day, usually on the couch or bed. I do love the thought of having a bookcase organized with my stuff. Right now my blog items are scattered in several locations due to space.
I love the repainted bookcase.
That looks like the perfect office space for the minimal space I have in my home to work. I even have a bookshelf that needs a makeover.
That is so cool!!! So proud of you!! Congratulations!!
Thanks so much, Kel! Xo
Congrats on the feature! I love this corner office nook. It just feels so cozy and bright!
