3 To Do's for Great 2019 Start

It’s Beauteeful Living’s first post of 2019 and I thought I’d start off by welcoming many of you new subscribers to this Home Decor & Lifestyle blog. I’d like to also thank my lovely readers who’ve been following along this blog as I chronicle my home improvement updates, one room at a time! There will be plenty of project related posts in the upcoming months but today, I thought I’d share my suggestions for 3 To Do’s for a Great 2019 Start!

# 1) Reflect on the positive things from prior year and plan how you can REPLICATE it this year.

We often focus on how we want things to change in the new year but how about we also focus on the positives from the year prior? What are some moments in the past year that have brought you joy?

Personally, one of my favorite moments from last year was our family vacation to Turks and Caicos. The beach photo above is one of my favorite photos taken on our trip! Traveling is something our family loves to do so this is certainly something we are looking to replicate this year again. Our sights are to travel to another tropical island in the Carribbean where we’ve never visited before.

# 2) Schedule that doctor’s appointment you’ve been delaying for too long.

Schedule doctor visit

Doctor’s visits and annual screenings are a part of life …especially when you’ve reached a certain milestone age. We’d all love to think that we’re still 21, both in energy level and health. For ease of mind, it’s best that we schedule our doctor’s wellness visit/ annual health screening … like… right now. I’m definitely speaking to myself on this. As I type this, I already know I have 2 appointments to make! I hope you also consider this important task for the beginning of 2019.

# 3) Start and Complete that 1 Pressing Project that could make the biggest impact.

What are some of your most pressing projects for 2019? Most of us can immediately think of at least 3 projects that we’ve been putting off for far too long. The beginning of the year is the best time to conquer procrastination. Why? We are usually at our most ambitious the first couple of months in the new year! 🙂

While everyone’s on their top game of 2019, this is the time to finally outline 1 project to complete within a specified timeline. You need a deadline date! I, myself, have given myself a task of ORGANIZING and PURGING the kid’s playroom (aka Family Room). Now that the kids are older and hardly play in their playroom, I’m looking to transition that space back into a family room by year end.

Right now, the big project will be to declutter, reduce, and organize the kids’ toys, books, and art supplies. Deadline date: January 25, 2019. Wish me luck because there’s a lot to go through! 🙂

Now that I have these 3 things I’d like to do for the first part of 2019, I’d like to share my “Word of the Year” for 2019:

Word of the Year - Authentic

I’m making it a point to bring the word “authentic” front and center this year because I’d like 2019 to be a year where we pare down to the basics.

No pretense.

No fluff.

Just us being our “authentic” selves.

Let’s start by having a sense of humor and embracing the inner “hot mess” in all of us! 🙂 Perfection is overrated.
