It’s happening again…Fall Edition of The One Room Challenge (ORC), hosted by the lovely Linda from Calling It Home. I can hardly believe it’s already my 3rd consecutive fall season joining as a guest participant! What can I say? While some people are hooked on cosmetic surgery, I’m hooked on home makeovers. With the popularity of this bi-annual event, I know I’m certainly not alone!Β Let me just say that as rewarding as it is to complete a space in a short span of 6 weeks, it is equally as inspirational to see all the heart and talent out there in the Home Decor/Interior Design blogisphere! Want to learn more about the ORC? You can read all the details here.
So, what can I possibly make over in our house that hasn’t been made over yet? It’s our 3rd bedroom. It happens to be the smallest bedroom in our house, belonging to the smallest person in the house … our soon to be 7 year old, Lauren. This bedroom makeover is one of my birthday presents for her. π
You may recall my very first ORC makeover was for our 2 daughters’ shared bedroom. Well, 2 years later, both Ellie and Lauren are ready to make the split! This would mean Lauren would have to move back to her teeny tiny room. A room that I completely emptied out a week ago. I like working with a blank canvas. Don’t you?
Speaking of Lauren’s bedroom, let’s take a little tour. Double emphasis on the “little” here. π
As soon as you open the entrance door, this is the view that you see. At 9 feet by 9 feet, this small box of a room doesn’t allow for easy angles for photographing this space, hence the off-center, angled shots you see below.
Can’t wait to repaint these walls!
To the right of the bedroom window is this wall. There’s a small closet here.
Directly next to the closet door is the entry/exit door on the right.
This is the wall that faces the window.Β Am I making you dizzy yet with these pictures??
Sometimes Iβm lucky enough to find a bedroom on Pinterest that pretty much sums up the overall look Iβm after for my makeover. Unfortunately, this is not one of those times. The good news, however, is that I found enough inspiration to know what elements I’d like to incorporate into my overall design scheme for Lauren’s Hipster Chic new bedroom.
Here’s what I had in mind:
Lots ofΒ Decorative Shelving
Geometric Decals for Accent Wall
Photo Via Little Sticker Boy (Etsy Shop)
White Bed Frame with Light Bedding (Pops of color in pillows)
Photo Via Crazy WonderfulΒ
Indoor Plants for the Boho/Hipster Vibe
Photo Via Clever Bloom
Whimsical + Fun DetailsΒ (A little less girly and more edgy than this photo though)
